Judge Questions MA Ban On Powerful Painkiller Drug

WE’RE STILL AWAITING A JUDGE’S DECISION ON THE POWERFUL PAINKILLER “ZOHYDRO.”
YESTERDAY —
A JUDGE HEARD ARGUMENTS IN A LAWSUIT —
CLAIMING THE CURRENT THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS’ BAN ON THE DRUG IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
THE DRUG COMPANY ARGUES AGAINST THE BAN–
BECAUSE ZOHYDRO HAS ALREADY BEEN APPROVED BY THE F-D-A.
MASSACHUSETTS GOVERNOR DEVAL PATRICK HAS SINGLED OUT THE PAINKILLER BECAUSE IT IS *NOT* AVAILABLE IN AN ABUSE RESISTANT FORM.
THE BAN HAS BEEN MET WITH MIXED RESPONSE.
MARCY JULIAN — SUPPORTS BAN

“We’re here to support the governor’s brave and bold decision to take on the pharmacutical company. We’re on the front line of this crisis because we’re the ones who have family members caught in cycle of addiction.”
– Marcy Julian, Supports Ban

“At the same time there’s a constitutional issue, a legal issue, one wonders if the state should be putting resources elsewhere than the constitutional issue.”
-Michael Kryzanek, Professor at Bridgewater State University

NO WORD YET ON WHEN THE JUDGE WILL MAKE HER DECISION.
